Update: 3/21

Hi, I was just updating to tell you how I've been doing. It's been a week since I last posted, and although there has yet to be any movement money wise, I have been extremely busy. I have taken the last week to change my approach to advertising. I have put fliers around my house, in people's mailboxes, in the local Starbucks etc. I hoped that maybe this would help because, as I go to Starbucks myself quite frequently, there is a number of fliers advertising a variety of services. My only hope is that maybe over spring break that people will call my house and ask for my services. Although I like having the support of my family and their friends with asking for my services, my goal is to offer my services to the greater North Shore community.

My business has been doing well so far. I have had four clients, but they have all been from my father's business. I have given each a consultation lesson for an hour, and sent out emails for each of them. I did put out an advertisement for my company, however no one has yet to respond and ask for assistance. I may need to take more steps in order to get customers. My mother has had friends ask for assistance, as well as my extended family. I gained 71.00 dollars, and my only loss was the money i spent on advertisements. I found a flash drive around the house, so i did not have to pay for a new one. My business is really convenient because i don't have to leave the house. I pick up computers and drop them off within 48 hours.  My goal for the next update is to have more customers outside of my father's company and my mom's friends. I know that that's a good starting point, but I wish to expand to a greater loyalty group.

And So the Journey Begins...

As we were just asked to create a blog, I feel like my first post should be about my feelings going into the project. Two months. That's all we have to make a profit, from now until the beginning of May before we go off on Senior Service. I'm both nervous and excited about how this project will go and hope that I will be able to gain at least a small profit to contribute.

But I should probably explain the services I'm rendering...

The business I am running is called "Easy Transfer Computers" and the premise of the business is to offer my computer skills for sale, transferring files, create blogs and spreadsheets, teaching others how to use computers as a consultant, etc. I know its weird, but I know a good amount about computers and how to use them, at least with the basics. The basics is really all people need to know, and from there everything will work. I'm offering my services to the business people and elderly of the North Shore of Chicago. I remember my mother and father beginning to use computers growing up, and I knew more than they did even at the young age of eleven. It's important to have our parents and grandparents join our generation's knowledge and love of computers. I know I personally couldn't live without my iphone, ipad, kindle, computer etc... and my parents at times are disconnected from these same feelings.

So, back to my current feelings about the journey on which I am about to embark. It's scary, thinking I'm going to be owning my own business, not too different from my father who is also a small business owner. I have been hearing him over the years talking about managing a small business, and now its my turn. Let's see if all those discussions at the dinner table taught me a thing or two!
